Why UV protection is important for the face
Ultraviolet rays (UV) emitted from the sun can damage your unprotected skin, triggering hyperpigmentation and premature ageing. Regardless of your age, sun protection is your best bet to prevent UV rays from harming your skin cells. If you haven’t been consistent with face sunblock, never too late to start.
What UV rays will do to the skin
UV rays should not be taken lightly. They trigger hyperpigmentation, resulting in dark spots and freckles. Wrinkles, fine lines and dehydrated skin are also the unfortunate effects of sun damage without UV protection skincare. UV rays can cause sagging skin on the face and neck as well.
Understanding UVA, UVB, SPF, PA
The common abbreviations associated with sun protection are UVA, UVB, SPF
and PA. UVA rays are long-wave light rays that are often known as the "suns's silent killers" because they can still cause severe damage even on a cloudy day. Although they aren't painful, they penetrate deep into the skin to stir
trouble, and are the leading cause of skin cancer. They can also penetrate through glass, while UVB rays cannot.
On the other hand, UVB rays are more prevalent in sunny climates and can trigger sunburn. While they
have a smaller range than UVA, UVB rays are equally destructive and can also cause skin cancer. The Sun Protection Factor (SPF) evaluates UVB protection, while PA shields against UVA rays.
That's why it’s
really important to use a sunblock with both UVA and UVB protection.
When and how to use sun protection skincare
If you’re looking for a non-greasy sunscreen face lotion with
SPF, try our UV Plus SPF50/PA+++ Neutral, which is also available in a pink tint for that natural rosy glow. This sunscreen is packed with UV Plus Anti-Pollution and potent plant extracts
like Succory-dock Cress and White Tea to boost your skin’s natural defense when faced with environmental stressors while combating the harmful effects of free radicals. It shields your complexion from the sun’s damaging rays,
leaving behind a transparent finish without any oiliness or stickiness. Customers love that it’s lightweight and non-comedogenic. Unlike other traditional sunscreens, this one doesn’t clog pores.
Don't forget to apply sunscreen daily even if you're indoors because UV rays can penetrate through glass. You should always use it as the
final step of your skincare routine after moisturising, before applying your make-up.
Give the bottle a quick shake before use, then squeeze a bit of the product into your palm. Rub your palms together to warm the
liquid before smoothing it over your face, starting from the centre and working outwards to the corners of your face to stimulate circulation and provide an instant radiance boost.
