The Power of Plants

The desert date is a tree from the dry regions of Africa and Asia, not to be confused with the date palm which produces dates. It is an extremely robust tree with a powerful root system which can reach deep underground water reserves, enabling it to withstand long periods of drought. This capacity has fascinated local communities who consider the tree sacred. The desert date is an important part of local daily life thanks to its many uses. It provides food for people and livestock, offers medicinal benefits and is also used in building and as fuel.

Skincare Benefits of Organic desert date extract

In cosmetics, organic desert date extract helps to prevent the appearance of dark spots to help even the skin tone.

Responsible Sourcing

Protecting the soil and biodiversity is a longstanding commitment at Clarins. That’s why we have always given priority to plant-based active ingredients sourced from organic agriculture, grown using sustainable farming methods that respect nature and the health of the soil. Our desert date extract is organically-certified and obtained using a natural and environmentally-friendly extraction process. Because our commitment to responsible agriculture concerns both plants and the people who grow them, Clarins has set up a desert date supply chain in Burkina Faso aimed at improving access to education for local communities.
