The Power of Plants

The shea tree grows on the savannahs of Africa where it is considered sacred. By tradition, women are the sole “guardians” of this magic tree which must not be cut down or damaged and it is they who gather the shea nuts which are transformed into shea butter and shea oil.

Skincare Benefits of Shea butter

Shea butter, rich in fatty acids, is traditionally used to nourish and protect the skin.

Responsible Sourcing

Protecting the soil and biodiversity is a longstanding commitment at Clarins. That’s why we have always given priority to plant-based active ingredients sourced from organic agriculture, grown using sustainable farming methods that respect nature and the health of the soil. For certain plants, like the shea tree, we practice multi-sourcing meaning that we rely on both its organic and non-organic extracts in order to ensure that the volume that we require for our products is met.
